A tale of 3 purses

Ok, so today (and yesterday) I am very annoyed with all this purse making. I made sister's brown purse and everything was fine. I felted it and shipped it off, she is happy. I finished Deanna's purse and NOTHING HAS GONE RIGHT. I put it in the washer to felt it; somehow the handles got wrapped around the agitator-thingy and the poor purse strangled itself, this has NEVER happened to me before, 2nd trip through the washer it got straightened out (or so I thought). When it dried, one handle is longer than the other and one side is taller and it is all bent out of shape. Called Deanna, told her the problem, said I would try to fix....3rd trip through the washer, just smaller and tighter, BUT STILL CROOKED AND ONE HANDLE LONGER.UUUGGGHHH
So, this morning I took the purse so she could see it, not acceptable, which is fine, I wouldn't sell it to her as is, but I wanted her to see the colors. She did LOVE my green purse that I made from leftover yarn and bought it off my shoulder!! So I switched all my stuff to the still wet, very crooked brown purse and off I went.
Placed an order with Yarnies for new yarn to make a new purse. My head hurts and I have to go to work.
Here is the crooked purse and the green purse (my favorite, I'll just have to make another, this time with leftover purple yarn).

Monday Monday

Busy weekend, we got flu shots and haircuts, a couple of trips to the hockey rink and we were keepers of the class pet - Mr. Cutie - the hamster. He didn't do much, he just slept a lot.
Sending sister's package today, she is very anxious to receive her 2nd, YES, 2nd purse :)
Delivered Patrick's hat, he likes it, hopefully it will keep him warm this winter. Deanna's purse just needs handles and then off to be felted, then delivered by the end of the week. Maybe I'll make a trip to the LYS to pick up the yarn for the boxes for the teachers.

Had a nice dinner with my husband last night (NO KIDS) it was our 12th anniversary xoxo

........and the Tigers won!! so off to St. Louis we go (not us, the Tigers)

Finishing up

Well, sister's purse is felting as I type.
Dishcloth KAL should be finished tomorrow or Sunday.
I will soon start Deanna's purse.
Then off to the races on Teacher Gifts. I'm planning on making a felted box and a set of dishcloths, both from the MDK book.
Cher from Yarnies said my yarn is in transit, so the sweater will have to wait.
And those darn socks keep getting pushed aside.

Happy 12 years together (on Sunday). Love me :)

It's a hat

Look at this, I made a hat :)
with a little (a lot) of help from my mom.

Hope it keeps Patrick warm this winter.

golly.....I have found a new purse that I love!!!This is a modification of an earlier purse, the sack purse, from upnorth. I wanted to use up the leftover yarn. It is a combination of Galway Colornep Sage and Patons Classic Wool Merino Deep Olive. The stripes are Galway Colornep Black. It felted just fine, I was worried that it wouldn't felt evenly due to the Galway being a 90/10 blend and the Patons is 100% wool. It is so soft.

Back to knitting

Well, I am over the bee sting; lots of knitting to do:

Mailing the purse I made for the swap this morning.
Meeting mother for lunch, she took home Patrick's hat to clean it up (she found lots of dropped stitches) and get me started on the decrease.
Made another purse with leftover yarn, just had to make the I-cord handle, then I will felt it.
Need to make purse for sister.
Need to make purse for Deanna.
Going to start on Christmas gifts for teachers.
Still waiting on sweater yarn from Yarnies.
Never did get started on socks.
GO TIGERS!!!

Pumpkin patch

This is what we did today, went on a hayride and picked out our pumpkins. Five minutes after we arrived, I got stung by a bee on my thumb OUCH; so I will be taking a break from knitting for a few days. Good thing, because I have frogged Patrick's hat twice now, I just can't seem to get they hang of the pattern for the decrease. I'm going to try calling Paton's tomorrow and if they can't help, I'm seeing my mom Wednesday and hopefully she can set me straight. UUUGGGGG

Patrick's hat

Here is the start of Patrick's winter hat. I am using a free Paton's pattern that I picked up at JoAnns. The pattern is quite mind-numbing, so far: K2 P2* to end of row, the P2K2* to end of row....but after 7 inches, I get to begin forming the hat :) I hope it fits.

I also joined the toe-ups KAL....now I just have to find the time to get to the yarn store for sock yarn and then sit down and figure out how to make socks. Should be interesting.

Go Tigers!!!

All quiet

Well, all the purses have been delivered.
My sister says she is in no rush for hers, so I will finish up the winter hat for Patrick......
Still waiting on the yarn from Yarnies for my sweater. ....
I could make some purses from the scraps of yarn......
I am in a dishcloth KAL.....

I've been thinking about making socks;I do know of a sock KAL...
Finished the purse for my knitted purse swap...don't want to post that picture as my partner may see it before she receives her package....

Perfect!!!

Well, I wish this picture had come out better, this purse if PERFECT!!! I made it a little bigger (per owner request) and I love the way it felted. It was a little strange, after I opened the washer, the purse was out of the pillowcase...and the detergent ball was inside the pillowcase !!! Must be a new secret.

The colors look great, they are black and dark brown (maybe that is why the colors don't show)
I am almost sad to give it to Jill :)

Hope you enjoy your perfect purse.

Off to the post office to mail the Red purse to MO.

Red pictures

Here is the red purse. It was made with Lamb's Pride Bulky Red Hot Passion M197 and Red Baron M81. It will be shipped tomorrow to Linda. Hope you like it!!!

I am hoping to finish another black/brown one today for Jill, but I have grocery shopping and laundry and then off to a hockey game (go eagles) and dinner with the team, so maybe.

Waiting to hear from Cher at Yarnies, she is special ordering me some Lamb's Pride Washable Wool. I am going to attempt to make a sweater, it is made from the top down...and I hear it is fairly easy.....we'll see.

Also bought some yarn to make a winter hat for Patrick :), but I told him there are 3 purses ahead of him.
